Liner Notes

This song idea started during the 2007 50/90 challenge, but I didn't have the wherewithal to complete it. Reviewing the discard bin tonight inspired me to finally do it...

It had one new challenge for me in that it includes an attempt at poetry, and another challenge yet to be satisfied - I intend to replace the samples of saxophone stabs with a live performance (just as soon as I figure out how to make a musical sound with my tenor sax).

Amusing that I'm completing a song clearly built with environmental sounds from summer - crickets and a lightning storm - to complete a song in the heart of the Wisconsin winter.

The rain falls hard in the night
A deluge cleansing our bodies
The thunder crashes
The lightning flashes
Revealing our secret with its light

Our love is soaked to the bone and wet
But the fire between us burns bright
Shivering wet skin
Warmth within
This is a moment we'll not soon forget
