Liner Notes

This song was an effort to forego music theory and just play what sounded good, although I'm not entirely sure I love this song I see it as musical growth, an experiment in a new way of composing...

These lyrics were written during a very boring presentation at work; the topic was 'controlled failures' which led me to think, coupled with the mediocrity of the presentation, about how we can become comfortable with mediocrity / failure.

Lyrics

Everyone wants to fly
Nobody wants to build their wings
Icarus he gave it a try
He failed but he learned why the caged bird sings

My mom said I'd be a star
My old man said I'd never amount to a thing
Should have known I'd never get far
Committed to failure at the start of everytthing

It's ok
It really doesn't matter
I'm truly fine
It's alright
Because I've learned to be comfortable with failure

Sometimes you've got to fight
But we made it ok to just give up
Sometimes when I turn out the lights
I lie awake wondering if I've had enough

Sometimes I want to change the world
But then I decide to watch TV instead
Somteimes I think my life is absurd
Then I wonder if I'd be better off dead

It's ok
It really doesn't matter
I'm truly fine
It's alright
Because I've learned to be comfortable with failure
