Liner Notes

This one was a very interesting creation... Molly Meuse took inspiration from some of the things I shared with her about past relationships and created some new and beautiful imagery to add intensity.

I really love the way the lyrics convey powerful emotions without explicitly providing a story, it's more stream-of-consciousness...

Performance-wise, this one needed polish after I first posted it and I planned to just leave it, but the perfectionist in me demanded I re-record the entire song which I did just hours later... this was postred a 2nd time at 19:39 CDT, with minor adjustments to song structure that I think are pretty cool... ;-)

Lyrics

I have a quiet ache in my chest
Sitting here strumming while I wait
For my vision in white to appear

As always she is on my mind
With a sultry smile and liars eyes
She holds a satin knife hidden in her long white dress

She is my addiction and my affliction
She sways in the morning sunlight
One stroke of her satin knife and I fall away

I have a quiet ache in my chest
Sitting here strumming while I wait
For my vision in white to appear

My worlds at the tip of her satin knife
She has green eyes that make you think
A truthfulness that makes you squirm

She is warm to touch, too cold to hold
She knows all my secrets
Too many strokes from the satin knife.

I have a quiet ache in my chest
Sitting here strumming while I wait
For my vision in white to appear

My illusion of this sad melody
Sits silent, satin knife in hand
I am not willing to let her go
