Liner Notes

This song was another that was written as part of a totally independent challenge to write a poem or lyrics about a color using only 5 lines of 3-5 words each. My friend Molly wrote a poem entitled "Gray" about the conflict some people have over gray area in life versus the strict black and white we sometime try to fit the world into.

Although she created the initial 5 line poem, once she heard what I did with the music she wasn't so inspired... dislike may not be a strong enough word actually... anyway, it was fun to write, sort of reminded me of the song "Back to Bassics" which I wrote for the 2007 FAWM Challenge.

Lyrics

Fundamentalists deny me
Philosophers embrace me
Government ignores me
Weaklings drown in me

Socialites espouse me
Hypocrites despise me
Scientists define me
Wise men understand

I'm gray...
I'm gray...
I'm gray, I'm gray, I'm gray...

Some people search to find me
Some seek to redefine me
The truth is light and darkness
Are simply shades of me

Don't try to beautify me
Don't try to demonize me
See me for what I am
And you will understand

I'm gray...
I'm gray...
I'm gray, I'm gray, I'm gray...
