DSAT Gas Blender

More people are diving with enriched air and this means the demand for enriched air fills is also increasing.

However, there needs to be someone qualified to administer these fills to meet this demand. This is where the DSAT Gas Blender course comes in.

DSAT Gas Blender Details

The DSAT Gas Blender course consists of 2 phases:

  1. Independent Study
  2. Classroom & Hands-On

These phases are detailed in the sections below.

Monkey Giving Sweet Loving to his Nitrox

1. Independent Study

The DSAT Gas Blender course starts with your independent study of the DSAT Gas Blender manual, as well as familiarization with the DSAT Gas Mix Calculator CD ROM.

What are the four main types of oxygen? What is oxygen clean? What are the five methods for blending Enriched Air? These questions and more are covered in the Gas Blender manual

Each chapter in the manual includes review questions to test your understanding of the material. Those reviews will direct your classroom refresher session prior to completing the practical exercises and hands-on session.

2. Classroom & Hands-On

During the classroom refresher session you’ll review the physical properties of oxygen, its various forms and purities, associated hazards, handling requirements and what cleaning equipment is necessary. Finally, you will learn the five methods of obtaining the desired enriched air nitrox mix and the various methods used to obtain proper helium mixes.

As the last step before completing the DSAT Gas Blender exam, you will visit a certified Enriched Air Nitrox and/or Trimix filling station to see how a professional gas mixing system operates. As part of this visit you will personally mix and analyze an Enriched Air Nitrox or Trimix fill.
