Brian J. Morse

Brian Morse

Brian started diving in June 2005 with Diversions Scuba of Madison, Wisconsin, on the recommendation of Ralph Gable. He was immediately hooked and completed Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver soon after with 3 Little Devils in Baraboo, Wisconsin. By May of 2006 Brian had completed over 100 dives and 5 specialties to earn the Master Scuba Diver rating.

It was Brian’s frequent dive excursions that led to his nickname “AquaMunkee,” a name that has stayed with him to this day and inspired the name “AquaMunkee Scuba”. In addition to frequent dives at Devil’s Lake, Lake Wazee, Lake Michigan, and every pond or quarry in the southern Wisconsin area, Brian also enjoyed a few warm water trips to Belize and Key Largo before deciding to pursue professional scuba certifications.

In 2008 Brian started the Divemaster program with Joan Dicka from 3 Little Devils, a program that took nearly a year to finish due to scheduling issues. Certified as a Divemaster in February of 2009, Brian went on to the Instructor Development Course in Key Largo, Florida. He received fantastic training from Course Director Tom “Scuba Yoda” Witmer at Horizon Divers, and completed his Instructor Examination on May 9th in the saltwater lagoon of the Jules Underwater Hotel in Key Largo.

In his first season as an instructor working for 3 Little Devils, Brian earned the Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification by certifying 33 new divers and 16 advanced divers for a total of 49 divers. Unfortunately, 3 Little Devils announced they would be going out of business in January 2010, which forced Brian to become an independent instructor, and thus AquaMunkee Scuba was born!

Brian has certified over 100 divers and provided additional instruction in non-diving emergency care courses such as Emergency First Response and Emergency Oxygen Provider. The Rescue Diver course remains Brian’s favorite class to teach, but he also enjoys offering the following specialty courses:

Brian is also an Emergency First Response instructor, including optional care for children and automatic electronic defibrillator (AED) training. He also teaches DSAT Gas Blender and DAN Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries.

Brian’s most important achievement was his marriage to his wife, Molly Marie Morse, on June 21, 2008. Brian is also a Product Manager at Standard Imaging in Middleton, Wisconsin, a practitioner of the traditional Japanese martial arts Genbukan Ninpo (Taijutsu) and Kokusai Jujutsu Renmei, and he is an avid musician who plays guitar and sings for the bands Hiatus (classic rock cover band) and Hammer of the Gods (Led Zeppelin cover / tribute band).

Feel free to contact AquaMunkee directly to discuss training options, Eastern philosophy, musical interests, or to get details on the next gig!

AquaMunkee Scuba is a PADI training facility, focused on the PADI approach to diver education and also offering training through the related organizations DSAT/Tec Rec and Emergency First Response.
